Internships

Uzma

UNA-GB relies heavily on its volunteers and interns to assist in all aspects of the programming that takes place throughout the year. Interns are given a high level of responsibility in planning events, compiling information, assisting with educational outreach presentations and editing our newsletter.

About UNA-GB Internships
Interns can expect to learn about all aspects of producing and coordinating programming in a non-profit organization. They will also gain experience in working in a fast paced environment with professional staff. All interns are treated in a professional manner and will learn skills that are applicable in any professional setting.

The time commitment is from 10-40 hrs/week, with a minimum requirement of 10-15 hours/week. Priority will be given to interns who are able to spend two or more semesters at UNA-GB. Due to the non-profit nature of the organization internships are unpaid.

The background recommended for interns applying for positions with the office is experience in working, traveling or studying abroad, studying foreign languages or cultures, model UN experience, working in a professional setting, making presentations and working with children. Guidance is provided for all projects undertaken but interns are expected to have a high level of independence and an ability to function comfortably in a professional setting.

Positions

All interns at UNA-GB assist in general office duties. In addition, each intern specializes in one area of UNA-GB's work. These areas are listed below.

Graphic Designer
UNA-GB seeks a volunteer graphic designer to assist in web improvements, and other graphic design tasks. Volunteers may be students or professionals with graphic design experience.

Education
The Education interns will assist in the planning and implementation of Middle School and High School Model UN conferences, networking with MUN Clubs, etc and local universities and general assistance to the Education Director. Some interns may be assigned to be MUN trainers, assisting schools and teachers in preparation for Model UN conferences or in use of the Global Classrooms curriculum. Applicants should have Model UN experience.

Membership Development
The Member Development intern will specialize in outreach to current and new potential members, including event planning, compilation of the UNA-GB newsletter, and Young Professionals for International Development.

Advocacy/Communications
UNA-GB occasionally requires an advocacy/communications intern. Interested applicants should be majoring in communications or a related field or have relevant experience.

Events
The events intern will assist in office tasks, and will focus energy on one of UNA-GB's many events including UN Day Luncheon, UN Day State House Ceremony, Global Voices Film Festival, or Consuls Ball.
