Student Workshops

Model UN allows students to expand their knowledge base on global issues in an exciting setting.  Students learn about global issues, a particular committee, the structure of the UN, a particular country, effective debating, problem-solving skills and the basics of professionalism.

After-school Student Workshops
UNA-GB holds after-school workshop for urban students to build Model UN skills such at public speaking, negotiation, debate, research, analysis and writing.  Workshops are usually held at a central location near Park Street Station/Downtown Crossing.  Some workshops are hosted by a participating school to allow easier access for more students.

Below is a list of student workshops that will be held in the coming weeks.  Any date indicated with a (*) is still being confirmed.  All workshops are held from 3:30-5:15pm, unless otherwise noted.

UN Day Model UN Workshop
In honor of United Nations Day, October 24, UNA-GB will hold a ‘quick & dirty’ Model UN simulation.  This will give middle and high school students the chance to participate in an abridged Model UN simulation with students from other area schools.  Students will receive country assignments in advance but the topic will be announced upon arrival at the event.

For more information, contact UNA-GB at education@unagb.org or 617-482-4587.

Summer Workshops
UNA-GB holds multi-day summer workshops for students to strengthen their Model UN and Leadership skills.

Middle School Model UN Intensive Course
The 3-day Intensive Course helps build the student’s confidence in debating, knowledge base on global issues, and abilities in problem-solving.   It allows students to focus on improving their techniques and strategies and will help them assist with their Model UN clubs at school.   This is also a great opportunity for students who are new to Model UN.  For students entering grades 7-9.

High School Model UN Leadership Training
Our 2-day Leadership Training program helps build the student’s confidence in debating, knowledge base on global issues, and abilities in problem-solving.  This training program is invaluable to any student looking to advance his or her Model UN club at school and especially his or her Model UN experience. Students new to Model UN may apply.    For students entering grades 10-12.
