Pursuing Solutions to Pressing Global Issues
Beyond building support for the United Nations, YPIC seeks to draw on Boston’s unique resources to pursue solutions for pressing global issues. Our conference and events raise a public-private dialogue on international topics, and engages local businessmen and women in global issues and corporate social responsibility.
The YPIC board is seeking several enthusiastic young people to assist in the organization of a recurring set of gatherings by taking a leadership role in running events. The YPIC board is always seeking new ideas for events and discussion topics. If you are interesting in assisting with these events or have any ideas, please email YPIC@unagb.org with your thoughts and contact information.
Current recurring events are as follows:
New England YPIC Conference - Innovative Citizenship: Utilizing Technology for Social Change (2008)
Keynote presentation and panel discussions touch on a wide range of topics around the issues facing our community in Boston directly and indirectly. This year's central theme addresses the role of technology in the augmentation of information systems and communication around the world. The goal of this year's event will be to educate participants about ways to act and facilitate a plan for action.
Frequency: annual
See our press release here, and please see our blog at ypicboston.blogspot.com for take aways.
"Taste of" Social Events
YPIC celebrates the diversity of Boston's restaurant scene by organizing small gatherings at different restaurants each month. A casual atmosphere allows people to socialize, exchange ideas and discuss current issues.
Frequency: monthly
See the UNAGB calendar for details about the next "Taste of" event and other reoccuring YPIC events.
Music for a Landmine Free World
Each year, YPIC organizes a fundraiser to support UNA-GB's campaign to clear landmines from severely landmine-affected countries. This campaign seeks national and international sponsors to adopt minefields that the United Nations has identified as being in urgent need of clearance. Sponsors raise funds in their communities to clear their adopted minefields and return the land to productive use.
Frequency: annual
