Keynote Presentation and Panel Discussion
The US and the UN: Navigating the Post-Conflict Period
A panel discussion on the UN's role in the Post-Iraq war period. The keynote was delivered by Ambassador Jan Kavan,President of the Fifty-Seventh Session of the United Nations General Assembly, and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The keynotelwas followed by a panel discussion.

UN Day Volunteers training.
A session for those interested in promoting the celebration of UN Day in their own communities. training will covered topics such as communicating with municipal leaders, the media and schools, as well as ideas for how to promote UN awareness in your community.

Teacher's Roundtable: Introducing Your Students to Model United Nations.>
Professor Philip D'Agati, Model UN instructor at Northeastern University, gave a brief intro the UN and will demonstrate how to run a "mini-simulation" in the classroom, an extrmely condensed Model UN scenario that requires virtually no preparation.

October 18, All Day
Global Classrooms Middle School Model United Nations.
The first GCMUN will brought together middle school students from throughout the region. We simulated two UN organs: the Security Council and the UN Commission on Human Rights. These committees confronted a joint crisis related to the nuclear threat in North Korea.

October 24, 12:00-2:00pm
United Nations Day Luncheon.
This annual event brings together the international and business community to celebrate UN Day with a luncheon and a keynote address by Ambassador Andrew Young. This year's UN Day Luncheon commemorated the life and work of Ralph Bunche. Dr. Bunche was an internationalist, UN peacekeeper and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, and served as UN Under-Secretary General from 1954-1971, the highest office ever held by an American at the UN.

October 24, 3:30-5:00pm
Commonwealth of Massachusetts UN Day Ceremony.
This annual UN Day celebration features the reading of the governor's proclamation of UN Day, displays of proclamations by cities and towns, music, and a keynote address by Ambassador Jonathan Moore.

November 6
Night of 1000 Dinners.
Participate with thousands of people around the world in a dinner to support landmine removal. Night of 1000 Dinners (N1KD) is a program of Adopt-A-Minefield.

November 15
Teacher's Professional Development Seminar.
This day-long seminar covered the "Great Lakes Refugee Crisis" scenario in central Africa from the Global Classrooms model UN curriculum.

December 5, 6:00-10:15pm and December 6, 1:00-6:00pm
"Changing Faces: tragedy and triumph."
The Second Annual UNA Film Festival traveling Program Boston. This festival of international documentary films dealt with hard-hitting topics such as AIDS, women's issues, hunger and poverty, and conflict.
