Shanuki recently graduated from Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies with a MA in International Affairs specializing in Political Economy and received her BA in International Relations and Legal Studies from the University of Rochester in 2015. In 2014, Shanuki spent six months in London, studying political science and law at Queen Mary University of London. Originally from Sri Lanka, Shanuki moved to the United States in 2004, however returned to Sri Lanka during the summer of 2012 and 2013 to work at a law firm. Her primary interest and area of focus here was international law and human rights. Shanuki has also spent extended periods of time in Singapore and Dubai. As a result of her experiences living, studying and working abroad, Shanuki developed a passion for global affairs and international development. She believes that education is a crucial mechanism through which we can achieve long-term, sustainable global development. Shanuki is excited to be an Education Intern at United Nations Association of Greater Boston to help support efforts to educate future generations on global issues that will help promote global development and social progress.
