Interested in joining the conversation about peace?

The United Nations Association of Greater Boston invites you to join us for a lively discussion on September 21 as local nonprofit organizations gather to discuss topics of peace in celebration of this year’s International Day of Peace, hosted by Hostelling International USA.

What is International Day of Peace?

Also known as “Peace Day,” September 21st was established as an international holiday in 1981 by the United Nations. The UN General Assembly devoted the holiday to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

Each year, people around the world engage in this holiday through a variety of events, from devoting a minute of silence at noon, to parades, community gatherings, feasts, and contributing some form of service to others.

This year, Hostelling International is hosting the International Day of Peace Panel, which invites organizations like World Boston, UNICEF-USA, and UNAGB to discuss Peace Topics. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in the community and learn more about what peace means to you.
