Event Details

Every March the international community celebrates the lives and contributions of women and those who identify as women.

In 2022, the United Nations Association of Greater Boston is celebrating International Women’s Day with a special U.N. Perspective Series focused on “Women & Refugees,” as we delve deeper into the global and local implications of Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality.

The event will begin a half hour of networking with other likeminded global citizens, followed by a panel discussion with leaders in refugee community, nonprofit space, and government affairs in and around Boston. Together we will explore what it takes to understand and transform the experiences of refugee women.

Speakers include:
Christine Ntagengwa, Senior Program Director, New American Integration Program Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA)
Simar Singh, Senior Programs Manager & Lead, Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative, RefugePoint
Mary Truong, Executive Director, Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants
