Annie Burrows
Education/ Programs- Consuls Ball
I grew up in Brookline and attended public school there. My family is both American and British so I hold two citizenships. I went to Connecticut College in New London for my undergraduate degree and then spent a year in Spain studying for my masters in bilingual and multicultural education. I’ve lived (I’m using the word “lived” loosely- anywhere from 6 weeks to a year) in Madrid, Seville, Santiago (DR), and Costa Rica. I speak Spanish (although not fluently) and I’m hoping to learn French some day as well. I’m hoping to go to graduate school in the United States or England within the next couple of years, hopefully for International Relations, Higher Education Administration, or some combination of the two. I love to dance, learn about different cultures, try new types of food (eat in general), and play board games.

Katie Miles
Programs – Membership
For as long as I can remember I have always had an adventurous soul. It began as a child growing up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and has accompanied me to my most recent home here in Boston. The past six years have been a compilation of traveling and studies zigzagging around the globe as I collected experience and new perspectives to enrich my degrees of Public Relations (B.A.) and Intercultural Relations (M.A.).  As I begin my last semester at Lesley University before the completion of my M.A., I am looking forward to working with the UNA-GB to develop innovative outreach programs and activities linking local communities with global affairs.  I will draw upon my experience here as I anticipate a career incorporating arts, advocacy and cultural representation.

NaEun Park
Programs – Communications
Born in Korea, growing up in Cambodia, Singapore and now the United States, I often refer to myself as a TCK, Third Culture Kid, someone who, as a child, has spent a significant period of time in one or more culture(s) other than his or her own, thus integrating elements of those cultures and their own birth culture, into a third culture.  After graduating high school from Cambodia, I moved to Boston to put my two passions together; a passion for public relations and a passion for giving back to the community. I am a junior at Boston University studying mass. communication and Public Relations.  Although I am interested in nonprofit management, I believe that it is critical to have a background in business and therefore decided to fulfill a minor in business administration and started exploring business with nonprofit and public relations in the form of corporate social responsibility (CSR) or cause branding.  I have done a series of internships in various nonprofit organizations and a PR agency. I am also on the executive board for an organization called Liberty in North Korea at B.U. I speak four languages: Korean, English, Mandarin and Khmer and during my free time, I like to volunteer at a local daycare center, attend performances or explore new places in Boston.

Hanna Rudorf
Programs – Communications
My name is Hanna Rudorf, and I am currently a junior at Emerson College, studying Political Communication and Broadcast Journalism. I hope to pursue a career in foreign affairs and diplomacy after I graduate in 2012. My family moved to Berlin, Germany just one year after I was born in Cambridge, MA. I grew up in Kreuzberg, a neighborhood home to many different immigrant populations and unique cultures. After six years of living in Berlin, my family decided to make the transatlantic move once again; this time, to Newton, MA. Every other summer, I try to travel back to Germany to visit all of my relatives and friends. I love campaigning, reading, writing, traveling, and playing soccer.

Geroline Castillo
Programs
I am a junior at Boston College majoring in Sociology and minoring in International Studies focused on Ethics and Social Justice. I am interested in analyzing the social systems that explains the world. My studies have led me to find my passion in the fight for human rights and social justice. I was born and raised in New York and have grown up as a proud Filipino-American. With both of my parents being immigrants from the Philippines, I have grown up immersed in a rich culture that has become a large part of my life. At BC, I am involved in the Philippine Society where I perform traditional Filipino dances. I am also part of the executive board as a Co-PR for District 1 of the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND, Inc.) that provides a network of Filipino-Americans all along the East Coast.

I recently graduated from Hobart and William Smith College, in upstate New York, with a BA in History and Political Science. During college I had the opportunity to study in Egypt and Ireland (and just returned there for a shorter vacation this winter!).  I am interested in working in the NGO/non profit sector and am currently going through the application process for the Foreign Service.  I also am brushing up my Spanish skills through classes at Harvard.

Chuan Ping

Born in Shanghai, China, I come to the United States with a different perspective. I double major in political science and international relations, aiming to have a more comprehensive view of how governments and international organizations work in the world. In my spare time, I also work on my own organization Global Fancci Society and we strive to offer more alternative perspectives about how the Chinese government could better function.

Some of my hobbies include attending Red Sox games, ballet, leading an active lifestyle, photography, hula hooping, and fashion.  I am interning in the education department for UNA-GB.

Kyoko Shiga
Education
I am from Japan. I am a graduate student of Intercultural Relations Program at Lesley University. I worked as a Japanese language assistant at Colby College in Maine for two years before coming to Boston. My interest is to create a better environment for people regardless of nationality, ethnicity, race, class or disability to live together with respect and without any discrimination. For this, I would like to cherish people’s voices and increase awareness of issues through their voices. Also, as a foreigner in the U.S., so I have become more sensitive to global human issues and would like to use this perspective to change the world more peacefully.

Elise Lauer
Education
I am finishing up my senior year at Boston University with a degree in International Relations and Public Health. I am originally from Chicago, raised in a home where lint brushes are a necessity: six younger siblings and an overabundance of pets. I just returned, reluctantly, from a semester abroad in London where I interned for an online social media company called Worldeka, which services a wide range of activists, policy makers, NGO’s and charities worldwide. The semester provided an invaluable opportunity to network, travel, and expand upon my knowledge of global human rights issues. I am thrilled to be back in Boston; hopefully the experience at UNA-GB will facilitate my next endeavor, successfully entering the real world.

I am an avid Model UNer and I look forward to going into Boston area classrooms to help students prepare for Model UN Conferences.

Mirlinda Sejdiu
Education
I was born and raised in a small country, Kosovo which is located in Southeastern Europe. I started school as a seven years old where classes were held in a private house not in the regular schools. I was ten years old when, on a late afternoon Serbian army came to our village and forced us to leave the whole village. After that moment there was no safe place to be from my village my family migrated to the city and then we had to exit the country. I lived in a big tent camp in Macedonia for six weeks. After that my family name was setup to migrate to a country known as United States of America. Now, I am a student at Suffolk University.

Bianca Diaz

I am 15 years, currently a sophomore at Boston Latin Academy.  While I may be the youngest intern on staff, I’m also the most veteran – I have also been an intern at the UNA-GB office since I was in 7th grade!  I have also been doing Model UN for 4 years and I absolutely love it.I take Japanese and play the clarinet. I want to move to Washington D.C. and become an immigration lawyer. I like listening to other people’s problems and helping them. Overall, I am an outgoing person to be around and I look forward to working with everyone because I like making new friends.
